Le projet
In each of our parishes in Cuba, youth ministry is a central pillar of our mission. It brings together children, teenagers, high school students, and young professionals around a fraternal, joyful life deeply rooted in faith.
Each week, these young people gather in age-specific groups for formation, prayer, and sharing, as well as more festive moments filled with games and fellowship. These groups become true communities of friendship where each person can grow both humanly and spiritually.
A wide range of activities sustains this dynamic: visits to the sick and the elderly, service to the parish, spiritual retreats, missionary walks to isolated communities, as well as summer camps. During these camps, older participants serve the younger ones, learning to give of themselves and to pass on what they have received.
Youth ministry also includes a strong commitment to the liturgy, with many altar servers who help enhance the beauty of the celebrations and experience meaningful moments together.
In addition, some young people discover the Church in unexpected ways, especially through cycling groups: the bicycle becomes a path of encounter that gradually leads them to a deeper search and a life of faith.
Open to all, this ministry is a place of welcome, listening, and growth, where each young person can experience friendship, responsibility, and the presence of Christ in their lives.
L'histoire du projet
Youth ministry in Cuba was born from a missionary desire to reach out to young people who are often searching for meaning, in a social and economic context marked by significant challenges.
Gradually, groups began to form within the parishes, at first simply around moments of fellowship. Very quickly, these gatherings grew, driven by the enthusiasm of the young people themselves and by a deep need to create spaces of life, meaning, and hope.
Over time, this dynamic has borne abundant fruit. Not only do young people become engaged and grow in faith, but they also become active participants in the mission. It is common to see children and teenagers inviting their parents to church, leading to genuine family conversions.
Today, this ministry continues to grow, sustained by the joy, fidelity, and commitment of young people who show that the Church is alive and has a vital place at the heart of Cuban society.
