Le projet

The boarding school in Placetas aims to offer Cuban adolescents a solid educational environment, both human, intellectual, and spiritual. Its goal is clear: to help young people become free and responsible individuals, capable of building their lives before God and in service to society. Community life is at the heart of the project: each adolescent learns to live with others, to serve, to participate in daily tasks, to take on responsibilities, and to grow in trust. Three pillars structure this journey: Fraternity, which makes the boarding school a true family; Study, supported by careful academic monitoring and general knowledge sessions to compensate for gaps in the educational system; Spiritual life, the foundation of the project, with daily prayer, participation in the liturgy, and guidance in vocational discernment.

L'histoire du projet

Founded in September 2009 in the former Franciscan convent of Placetas, Saint Jean-Marie Vianney Boarding School is a profoundly prophetic initiative in the heart of Cuba. In a country where education has been fully controlled by the State since 1960 and where all Church-run schools had disappeared, the Bishop of Santa Clara, Mons. Arturo González Amador, entrusted the Saint-Martin Community with creating a unique educational institution rooted in the Christian faith.
